75
look beside the head of Ophiuchus The Serpent-Bearer, and from that
you may discern Ophiuchus himself shining;

to be seen. Those stars would remain visible even
under a half-moon; but the hands are not very equal;

for a thin light has spread over both of them.
But nevertheless, they are visible; for they are not faint.
Both are occupied by the Serpent, which winds
around the middle of Ophiuchus; but he Ophiuchus, firmly braced,

the Scorpion, standing upright on its eye and chest.

a little one on the right, but a great one high up on the left.
And indeed, the edge of the chin is reclined toward the Crown;
and below the great coil, search for the Claws.

Behind Helice Ursa Major, like one driving, is carried
Arctophylax The Bear-Watcher, whom men call Bootes,
because he seems to touch the Wagon-like Bear.
And he is entirely very clear; and under his belt
95
Arcturus the Bear-Guard revolves, a star visible among others.
