484 And within it lie the knees of the fixed Charioteer,
and the left leg and left shoulder upon it
485 of Perseus, and the middle of Andromeda above the elbow
holds the right hand; the palm of her hand lies above,
closer to the North, and the elbow is inclined toward the South.
The hoofs of the Horse, and the Bird beneath the neck,
with the tip of the head, and the beautiful shoulders of Ophiuchus
490 revolve around it, driven in a circle.
But the Virgin is borne a little further south, and does not fall upon it,
but rather Leo and Cancer. Both of these indeed
lie in order, cast down, but the circle
cuts the one beneath the chest and belly as far as the groin,
495 and cuts the other, the Crab, continuously beneath the shell,
where you might notice it most evenly divided
upright, so that the eyes of the circle might pass on either side.
Of this, as much as is measured by eight,
five move inside above the earth,
500 and three in the depths; and its solstices are there.
But the one in the North is fixed around the Crab.
Another, facing the South, cuts through the middle of Capricorn
and the feet of Aquarius and the tail of the Whale.
