Now, the task of forming boyhood consists of many parts: of which the first, as it is the primary one, is that the tender mind should drink in the seeds of piety; the next, that it should both love and learn the liberal disciplines; the third, that it should be instructed in the duties of life; the fourth, that it should become accustomed to the civility of manners from the very first rudiments of age.
