Therefore, just as this mode of the ubiquitous presence of the flesh of Christ has been most unscientifically fabricated by them so that it might be a common escape and cover for many errors, so it can in no way be either natural or supernatural, however subtle and miraculous it may be pretended to be by them.

XXVIII.

We are indeed ready and prepared to captivate our reason in obedience to the faith and to the person of Christ; but that a human fiction is thrust upon us by them as an article of faith, when it is refuted by the very foundation of the Christian faith, far be it from us to admit it as truth.

XXIX.

That we have read, again and again, that the holy and orthodox Fathers used, or rather abused, the word "mixture," we truly cannot deny in all respects.

For Erasmus himself also noted and observed this in his preface to the third book of St. Irenaeus, although he did not sufficiently understand this controversy.
