Original fileThe page displays a complex 'computus' or Paschal table used to calculate the date of Easter, accompanied by months marked with runic-like symbols. Below the tables are two hymns with medieval neume musical notation, one concerning poetry and the other regarding the first man (Adam). The right side features a decorative red and black inscription formally beginning the 'Garden of Delights,' an encyclopedic work designed for the education of nuns.
The Hortus Deliciarum is a premier example of the medieval encyclopedic tradition, bridging the gap between sacred scripture and natural philosophy. The inclusion of the Paschal tables highlights the importance of the science of time (computus) in the medieval intellectual curriculum, reflecting the belief in a mathematically ordered cosmos.

Translation
Tab. X. Paschal days Jan Feb On poets, whose work is called a poem. A poet is from the Greek *poio*, *pois*, that is, *operor* [I work] or *fingo* [I fashion]. A poet is a maker, whose work is called a poem. A *vates* [seer] is from *vi mentis* [force of mind] where they sing. Lyric poets are from the Greek *lyra*, i.e., from the variety of songs. Concerning the birth of the Lord The sun rises, knowing no setting, and the son of the father is the son of the virgin. Concerning the first man. Rhythm. The first parent of men, discerning the light of the heavens, was fashioned thus, just as an angel; he was a companion of Him. HERE BEGINS THE GARDEN OF DELIGHTS. In which, with flowers of the scriptures gathered, let the crowds of young maidens delight.
Bede the Venerable
Bede's 'De temporum ratione' (On the Reckoning of Time) established the foundational methods for the Paschal tables and computistical science shown in this manuscript.
