Acta Martyrum et Sanctorum, Tomus I
No prior complete English translation of this text has been found.
Paul Bedjan's 'Acta Martyrum et Sanctorum' (Acts of the Martyrs and Saints) is a monumental collection of Syriac hagiographical texts published in multiple volumes between 1890 and 1897. While individual hagiographies contained within these volumes may have been translated into English separately, the collection as a whole, as edited and compiled by Bedjan from Syriac manuscripts, has not been translated into English. My searches across multiple scholarly and library catalogs yielded no results for an English translation of this specific compilation.

This collection brings the raw, unfiltered accounts of ancient Syriac martyrs and ascetics directly to the modern reader. It confronts the fundamental tension between earthly power and the uncompromising demands of the divine.
