The Yoga-Vasishtha Maharamayana (or Yoga Vasistha) is a distinct philosophical Sanskrit text attributed to Valmiki. The translation by Vihari Lala Mitra, published between 1891 and 1899 (with Volume 2 appearing in 1893), is widely recognized as the first complete English translation of this work. Search results from Open Library and local catalogs identified several later translations, such as those by Hari Prasad Shastri (1937) and Dhirendra Nath Bose (1963), but no English translations predating Mitra's work were found. The 1823 catalog result refers to the standard Ramayana epic, which is a different work.
